Description

Mr. G. (57)
Mr. G. came to me with a diagnosis of “lymphoma of the brain stem” and paralysis of the left side of his face, which was already improving.

The doctors found the lymphoma during a CT scan that was performed because of the facial paralysis. They concluded that this was the cause. The suggested treatments ranged from “observation” to “brain surgery.”

Since a family member of the patient was already somewhat familiar with 5BN, he came to my practice for a consultation.

There was a cell phone photo of the CT scan (which I unfortunately neglected to copy). It clearly showed swelling in the section of the brain stem at the lower edge, to the left of the center.

I must admit that I briefly wondered how this could have caused facial paralysis.
But I soon realized that these were two different processes.

1.
I am not an expert in brain CT scans, so I hardly dare to make any competent statements. But the image of the brain stem showed such clear swelling to the left of the throat/or in the left throat that I allowed myself to make a cautious interpretation. According to this, “a lump” that needed to be removed had been successfully eliminated.
The swelling, which was interpreted as a “lymphoma,” was therefore the result of a resolved chunk conflict.
The time course could only be estimated, since the moment when the swelling developed was, of course, unknown. This was only an incidental finding that would not have been noticed without an examination. No organic abnormalities affecting the rectum or throat area could be confirmed.

So what had once been so important to the person concerned that he had taken it on as a vital “lump” – but later wanted to get rid of it at all costs?

Exploring this question was the subject of a conversation that revealed the following connections:
The person concerned was in the spotlight of a critical public with his voluntary work, which he did with all his strength and heart. After several years of this (psychologically exhausting) work, he simply wanted to get rid of the office because he believed he had done enough. He did not succeed immediately and had to fight for it for a while.
This period can be considered the actual conflict activity.
Finally, he succeeded—and was relieved of his position. The recording was made about four weeks later.

2.
The sudden facial paralysis (pclA—immediately after the resolution!) had occurred three weeks before our appointment, but had already been slightly receding for about two weeks.
The motor function controlled by the cerebral cortex is affected here.
What had caused him to “lose face”? What made him feel “impossible” in the eyes of others? What did he believe he had to be ashamed of – or even become invisible for?

That was easy to explain: as a result of this voluntary work, he had been drawn into court cases that had also been publicly noticed.
Since the left side of his face was affected, it stands to reason that he harbored these feelings primarily toward his loved ones.

This case was also a small lesson for me...

Of course, my contribution to clarifying the symptoms was only one way for the client to understand the processes from a purely biological perspective. Although both processes were in the resolution phase, this did not mean that they were harmless. In this case, it was almost impossible for me to assess the drama of a resolution phase that was still ongoing. As always in such cases, I expressly point out that medical help is necessary in the event of an aggravation, which is usually clear to those seeking help anyway.

I only found out what happened next six months later: the facial paralysis worsened again. After a while, the patient's general condition gave rise to fears of the worst. After much anxiety, the patient underwent brain surgery and mild chemotherapy. After that, the patient slowly began to recover... I received this information from a family member when I inquired about the patient's condition.

It would be too speculative for me to describe the exact circumstances, so I will leave it at that.

Perhaps this is a good example of how, despite all our knowledge of 5BN, we should be aware of the limits of our capabilities and the associated restrictions – and ultimately be grateful for conventional emergency medical care.

Note: Have you also had exciting experiences with the 5BL? If so, it would be great if you could send us an anonymized report so that we can publish it in the archive and everyone can benefit from your experiences. Thank you very much!
