Description

One of my male dogs was given to a neighbor for our four-week vacation. (When he was handed over he had two testicles of the same size). This dog is incredibly affectionate and fixated on me.
When I picked him up, his left testicle had doubled in size.
My dog was incredibly exhausted and tired for the next few days.
The testicle has become a little smaller again but not yet back to its original size.
What could be the reason for this? His loss conflict about me was resolved after my return.
All the best and many thanks for your time, Ann

Answer from Björn:
Thanks Ann for the report.
Testicles (and ovaries) make cell minus in conflict activity. That was probably the first three weeks of your vacation.
If I am correct, your faithful dog “knew” in the last week or so of your absence that you would be back soon and was already in joyful anticipation/resolution > testicular cell growth (cell plus).
The testicles remain enlarged. The biological purpose of the whole thing is to improve reproduction: you - his pack leader - had disappeared/he felt you were gone forever and had to be replaced.

Answer from Anne:
Speaking of which! My husband was home a week before me, our dog had already seen him, my husband stroked him at the fence but didn't bring him back into our apartment for work reasons. It wasn't until a week later when I arrived that I brought him home. So after three weeks or so, he came to the solution "my family is back in the nearby field".
